moose crashes through metal carport

Dazed moose tests carport’s strength

Imagine the following scenario: you wake up one night to a loud ‘thud’ or perhaps loud, menacing groans from a disgruntled animal. What is your initial reaction? Many people would quickly disappear into a canopy of blankets and pillows – and perhaps rightly so, but a man in Canada recently whipped out his cell phone to document a truly bizarre occurrence.

According to outdoorhub.com, a British Columbian man was shocked to discover that a large moose had somehow ascended to the roof of his car port. On this particular night, the unassuming owner was exiting his vehicle when he heard the monstrous mammal straddling his car port like a mountain goat.

The news report said there was no indication as to why or how the animal had made a perch upon the metal structure, but we at carport.com believe this is a true testament to the strength of steel and quality engineering. Could you imagine what would have happened if this animal had tried to climb atop a wooden carport? This unassuming motorist would have likely met his untimely demise once the moose came crashing down through the roof of the inferior carport. Even if the motorist were inside at the time of this hypothetical catastrophe, his car would have sustained damages on the verge of it being considered total, and the poor animal would’ve likely not survived the fall.

An old battle: wood vs metal

While these freak events are highly unusual, it does serve as a reminder in the value of proper planning and protection. Aside from sustaining unexpected high load capacities, a metal carport, such as the one offered at carport.com, has many advantages over its dated wooden rival. Wooden carports are more susceptible to fires and a plethora or creepy crawly insect infestations.

Customize your metal carport experience
